Why this website was developed

It is every individual's duty to understand and share Allah's message.

Why I started to study the Qur'an

Arabic is not my first language, nor my second or third. Like most non-Arab Muslims, I had been taught to read (recite) the Qur'an when I was very young. I was very fluent in reciting the verses without understanding what I was reading. For the first 50 or 60 years of my life I felt comfortable that I was performing my duty as a Muslim by reciting verses of the Qur'an frequently and by following the instructions of Allah as explained to me by qualified Islamic imams and scholars.

It was close to my retirement that I realised, through the inspiration of a close friend of mine, what the Qur'an really was, it's importance and standing in my life, and the mandatory duty on me to perform a deep study of the Qur'an myself. I realised this once I saw the conflict and inconsistencies of Muslims' convictions on what Islam is about.

Starting to study the Qur'an was the single, most eye-opening experience of my life. I started over 20 years ago, and I have not let a single day go past since then without spending some time studying, deliberating over or communicating to others the pristine messages from our Creator contained in the Qur'an and what it means for us practically in this life.

Why this website was launched

I have been writing articles, study notes and booklets for many years on the Qur'anic messages. Recently, with the help of my dear friends I have also been posting short videos on my youtube channel (see link on this website). However, I have for many years had the desire to have a website to really take advantage of the global reach of the internet, and the relative simplicity with which it would allow me to share what I have learnt from the Qur'an, for the benefit of others.

Alhamdulillah, one of my key supporters in this project are my children and grand-children, who took on the responsibility to fund and design this website.

Although I will of course be using this website to share my learnings from the Qur'an, it is also an opportunity for others to influence the content. If you would like me to share on this website learnings on any particular topics, or if you would like to comment on any of my articles, please do get in touch through the Contact Us link.
